Why I love it…this song feels like it’s straight from the 80s. Not only that, but the music video looks like it was filmed at some janky booth at the mall managed by teenagers, then directly copied to VHS. Thus, it is perfection.

Why I love it…I just heard ODESZA play live in Edmonton’s Starlite Room a few weeks ago and it was SO GOOD. These guys know how to hype up a crowd with good music and better vibes.

Why I love it: UNNNNNNNBBBBBBEEELLLIEEEVAAAAABBBBLE! I dare you to try and listen to this song with a frown on your face, it’s impossible, I’ve tried. This song is so hilarious and it’s also what I imagine my fiancée sings about me when I’m not around which is why I love it. I have extreme tastes in music, so when I’m not listening to Dr. Dre … I’m walking around doing a line dance to Diamond Rio.

Song: Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)
Why I love it…remember that song Sail that came out a few years ago… Red Bull used it in one of their commercials, it pretty much just screamed SAIL at you and talked about ADD. I’ve heard a couple other of their songs recently and really enjoyed them. I Am is another good one, but Hollow Moon ties in a little bit of screamo which reminds me of my youth and has lyrics like “Motherf*cker I’ll be back from the dead soon” which make me feel hardcore when I listen to it.

Why I love it…I’m in love with Thomas’ new album, Tangled Up. T-Shirt is one of my favorite songs on the album because it’s so infectiously fun and catchy. Sometimes you just need to crank it up and have a dance party!

Why I love it…because I’m in the middle of my PhD candidacy exams. When this song comes on the “00s Sing-Alongs” Songza playlist, it gives me the girl power boost I need to keep going. Also, Gio likes to dance to it with me.

Song name: Hasn’t Hit Me Yet
Why I love it…now I know this is the type of song that your dad probably sat you down and made you listen to as a teenager because “this is what real music sounds like kid.” But give it a chance! Whenever Netflix takes down the show I’m in the middle of watching (RIP Star Trek: The Next Generation) I go sit in a dark room and play this on repeat until I feel better. The steel guitar and Canadian geographical references in the lyrics make it perfect for anyone who’s faced crushing rejection this fall – Conservative Party of Canada, I’m looking at you.
