Be fierce: IGNITE motionball 2016 in Calgary

Every year people get dolled up and go to fancy events. Are you one of those people? Do you have a fancy dress that you have worn to your cousin’s wedding and never had a fancy opportunity to wear it again? Think there is nothing dazzling going on in Cow Town? Well, motionball is going to fix all of your problems. (Or at least the dress one.)

On Friday, April 22, 2016, the annual motionball gala is back! This year’s IGNITE gala is going to raise funds and awareness about Special Olympics Canada. In an olympic year – there is no way you can miss out. It may not bring luck to our athletes, BUT IT COULDN’T HURT! The organizers hope that the gala will spark passion in you for the Special Olympics movement. Guests are encouraged to show support by dressing in formal attire that complements the theme; think fiery reds, passionate fuchsias, burnt oranges and other shades of autumn. This does not mean wearing your Flames jersey boys. Let’s be classy and fierce.

If you are thinking that the dress you bought for that wedding is not a shade of autumn then grab some fiery accessories. If you don’t have some fiery accessories…then I think it will be fine for you to grab some red lipstick and call it a day.

For more information about this event and all the glamour – go here. We’ll see you at the motionball.

Motionball is a volunteer run Canadian non-profit dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. The focus is on integration, education and celebration between Special Olympic athletes and Canada’s young professionals. The group’s mandate is to create integrated social and sporting events that introduce the “next generation” of the Special Olympics movement while also tying the fun of sport back to giving. Since its inception in 2002, motionball has donated more than $6 million to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation, raising just over $1 million in 2015 alone. Currently, motionball runs 18 annual events in 12 cities across Canada, including the Marathon of Sport and Gala in Calgary.
