UPDATE: Gains in productivity: Reddit Blackout

UPDATE July 10, 2015: Reddit intern CEO Ellen Pao has resigned after the controversy over the firing of Victoria Taylor last week. Pao came under fire from the users for handling the situation poorly. She made a statement apologizing for the failure to communicate with the forum moderators, recently and over the years, but it didn’t make a difference. 200,000 people signed an online petition for her to be fired and in the end, the users win.

July 3, 2015: Late yesterday Victoria Taylor, the moderator of a popular forum within Reddit.com (r/IAMA) was let go leading to a online protest within the website’s community. The moderator role is a volunteer position on the website, and many moderators have locked down their respective forums in solidarity with Ms. Taylor. The most popular forums currently protesting are r/USA, r/gaming, r/askreddit, and its infamous r/IAMA which invites the public to ask celebrities and politicians (e.g. Barack Obama) questions.

At the moment, no official comment has been made by Reddit in regards to the current forum blackout.
